The IoT-ra Lab at the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS), Makerere University, recently hosted a delegation of researchers from the University of Bergen, marking an important step toward strengthening international research collaboration and innovation in Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by the IoT-ra Lab leadership team, led by Dr. Julianne Sansa-Otim and Dr. Mary Nsabagwa, who presented an overview of the lab's journey, vision, ongoing research initiatives, and its growing contribution to addressing societal challenges through digital innovation and emerging technologies.
The Kristin Svartveit headed delegation from the University of Bergen, Norway engaged enthusiastically with the presentations and discussions, expressing keen interest in the lab's multidisciplinary approach to research, innovation, and capacity building. The team also toured the laboratory facilities and learned about several ongoing projects that are leveraging IoT solutions to address challenges in agriculture, environmental monitoring, smart systems, and community development.
In her remarks, Kristin highlighted the potential for future collaboration between their institution and the IoT-ra Lab. Areas of mutual interest included joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange, student and staff engagement, and the co-development of innovative IoT solutions with global impact.
The visit aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration and promote research excellence through international partnerships, underscores the growing recognition of Makerere University's research excellence and the IoT-ra Lab's role as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
